Early Black Friday Tech Deals Worth Watching
It's November 3, and Black Friday is already everywhere. The actual shopping holiday is still weeks away, but retailers clearly aren't interested in waiting until November 27.
Apple products are getting cheaper at major retailers, Samsung is advertising early offers, and Dyson has already marked down some of its popular vacuums. It's tempting to start filling a shopping cart, especially if you've been putting off a laptop upgrade or replacing an old appliance.
But there's one question I keep coming back to: will these prices actually be better on Black Friday?
🍎 Apple's Early Discounts Are Surprisingly Good
Apple rarely makes a big deal out of discounting its own products, which is why I usually look at third-party retailers first.
AirPods Are Already $50 Cheaper
The AirPods Pro 3 have dropped from $249 to $199, according to MacRumors' early Black Friday deal roundup.
That's a decent saving for earbuds that are still relatively new. If you've been using an older pair of AirPods with a dying battery, I can see why you'd be tempted.
Would I rush to buy them today? Probably not if my current earbuds were working fine. Another $10 or $20 off later this month wouldn't be surprising, although there's no guarantee.
MacBooks Are a Different Story
A $200 discount on a MacBook sounds much more exciting than $20 off a pair of headphones. But the details matter.
I'd check Best Buy and Amazon against Apple's regular prices, paying particular attention to memory and storage. A discounted laptop with insufficient RAM isn't much of a bargain if it needs replacing sooner.
Older MacBook models are worth checking, too. Not everyone needs the newest chip to browse, edit photos, or get through a workday.
📱 Samsung and Dyson Are Starting Early Too
Apple isn't the only brand worth watching this month. Some of the more interesting savings are showing up on products that cost considerably more.
Samsung Deals Come With Fine Print
Samsung's official offers page is already promoting savings across Galaxy phones, laptops, and televisions. Certain Galaxy Z Fold8 offers include discounts without a trade-in, while eligible trade-ins can bring the advertised savings higher.
That last part deserves attention.
A $1,000 trade-in credit sounds fantastic until you realize it depends on the phone you're handing over. I'd rather know the actual amount leaving my bank account than get excited about the biggest number on the banner.
For Samsung TVs, I'd also compare last year's models. A slightly older OLED at a genuinely lower price could be more appealing than a small discount on the latest release.
Dyson's $150 Discount Caught My Eye
Dyson's current deals page lists the V8 Cyclone with Car Cleaning Kit for $299.99 instead of $449.99.
That's $150 off, which is substantial enough to deserve a second look.
Still, Dyson has plenty of different models and accessory bundles. Before buying, I'd check which attachments are included and whether a cheaper model could handle the same cleaning jobs.
There's no point spending $300 on a vacuum just because its original price was $450.
One thing I noticed while looking through Black Friday discussions on Reddit is how skeptical shoppers have become about advertised discounts.
In a popular r/LifeProTips discussion, users recommended taking screenshots of prices before the sales begin. Others suggested checking Amazon price histories with CamelCamelCamel.
It's simple advice, but useful. A product marked 40% off isn't impressive if it sold for almost the same price two weeks ago.
There's also less reason to panic-buy than some countdown timers suggest. Best Buy's holiday price-match guarantee covers qualifying Best Buy price drops on many purchases made from October 30 through December 31, with adjustments available through January 15, 2027. There are exclusions, so it's worth reading the policy before relying on it.
Personally, I wouldn't wait until November 27 for absolutely everything. If a pair of AirPods or a Dyson vacuum reaches a price I'm comfortable paying, buying early makes sense.
For a $1,500 laptop or a new television, though, I'd give the sales another week or two to develop.
Black Friday is supposed to save money, not make us feel rushed into spending it.
